CORBETT NATIONAL PARK

Corbett is 115 kms from Nainital, via Kaladhungi. The Corbett National Park has the distinction of being the first national park of India. It sprawls over an area of 524 sq. kms and was established in the year 1935 as the Hailey National Park, after Sir William Malcolm Hailey, an enthusiastic conservationist who was at that time Governor of United Provinces. The park is very rich in wildlife like elephants, tigers, panthers, deer, pigs, porcupine etc. There are more than 500 species of birds here. Amongst the reptiles are pythons, crocodiles and numerous species of lizards and snakes in their natural habitat.

NAINITAL

At 1938 metres in the Kumaon hills, this attractive hill station was once the summer capital of Uttar Pradesh. This is certainly one of the most pleasant hill stations to visit and there are many interesting walks through the forests with breathtaking view of the Himalayas. Climb up to China Peak in the early morning for the panoramic view over Nainital and the snow clad Himalayas in the distance. The Naini Lake is an attractive lake and is said to be one of the emerald green eyes of Shiva’s wife Sati. She had jumped into a sacrificial bonfire and as her mourning husband dragged her charred remains across the country, various appendages dropped off. India is now littered with places “formed by parts of her body.” Her eye falling here makes this a holy spot and the popular Naina Devi temple is situated at the northern end of the lake.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 01 :   MUMBAI - NEW DELHI

Fly to New Delhi. Arrive Delhi & transfer to the hotel. Have a city sightseeing tour.

Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 02 :   NEW DELHI - CORBETT PARK

Morning leave for Corbett Park by road (300kms). Arrive Corbett Park and check into hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 03 : CORBETT NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy a wildlife safari to the most famous Corbett National Park. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 04 :  NAINITAL

Leave for Nainital. Arrive and check into hotel.  Enjoy a boat ride in the evening. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 05 :  NAINITAL

Depart for an excursion trip to Almora. There are good walks from Almora up to the Kasar Devi Temple, which have excellent view. Return to Nainital. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 06 :  NAINITAL -  NEW DELHI - MUMBAI

Depart early morning by road to New Delhi.

Overnight at the hotel or transfer to the airport to board flight to Mumbai.
